RICHMOND, VA: Gerald S. Divaris, chairman and CEO of Divaris Real Estate, Inc. (DRE), announced the signing of six leases totaling approximately 18,000 square feet of retail space in Richmond, Charlottesville and Wyethville, Virginia.  Negotiations were handled through the Richmond office of DRE.

Xiang Fang Jiang and Yue Li Lian signed a lease for 5,000 square feet of retail space at the Divaris-leased 1712 East Main Street in Richmond, Virginia.  The Asian restaurant is scheduled to open in late fall 2016. The lease was handled on behalf of the landlord, Kirlow Corporation, by DRE’s Brett McNamee

Federal Express leased 4,531 square feet of retail space at Barracks Road at Route 29 in Charlottesville, Virginia.  FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) provides customers and businesses worldwide with a broad portfolio of transportation, e-commerce and business services. McNamee represented the tenant in the lease negotiations with the landlord, Federal Realty and Development.

Virginia ABC Board leased 2,800 square feet of retail space at the Divaris-leased 5th Street Station located at 150 Bent Creek Parkway in Charlottesville.  The state’s ABC Board is vested with the power to control the possession, sale, transportation and delivery of alcoholic beverages within the Commonwealth, and to establish and operate stores for the sale of distilled spirits.  The landlord, 5thStreet Station, LLC, was represented by DRE’s Erica Rorrer, Mary McGovern, Zach Means and Larry Agnew.  The new 73-acre, super-regional shopping center, 5th Street Station, brings 335,000 square feet of anchor, junior anchor and small shop opportunities to the heart of southern Charlottesville.  Completed leasing for Phase One includes the region’s first 140,000-square-foot Wegmans, a 50,000-square-foot Field & Stream and Dick’s Sporting Goods’ second store to the market, PetSmart, Panera Bread and other exciting retailers.

Bank of the James leased 2,000 square feet of retail space at 5th Street Station in Charlottesville.  Bank of the James Financial Group, Inc. is a bank holding company with $492.84 million in total assets as of June 30, 2015 and trades on the NASDAQ Capital Market, LLC under the symbol “BOTJ”. Bank of the James, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of the James Financial Group, Inc. serves Lynchburg, Charlottesville, Harrisonburg and Roanoke, Virginia. The bank operates nine full service locations, one limited service branch, two loan production offices, and an investment services division. The lease was handled on behalf of the landlord by the Divaris Real Estate team of Rorrer, McGovern, Means and Agnew.

Grace Point Center leased 2,000 square feet of retail space in Mountain View Square Shopping Center located at 1480 East Main Street in Wytheville, Virginia.  The thrift store subleased space from Sears Roebuck and Company.  The lease was handled on behalf of the landlord by Cheryle Toy and Read F. Goode, Jr., principal of the Richmond office of Divaris.  Other tenants in the shopping center include Kmart, AFLAC, and Fusion Fitness.

Jackson Hewitt Tax Service renewed its lease for 1,632 square feet of retail space in the Divaris-leased Brookhill Azalea Shopping Center located at 5320 Chamberlayne Road in Richmond.   Jackson Hewitt operates 6,300 locations including nearly 3,000 in Walmart stores and employs approximately 25,000 professional and certified tax preparers.  DRE’s Sara Goodall represented the landlord, BSV Premier Brookhill, LLC, in the lease negotiations.  Other tenants in Brookhill Azalea Shopping Center include Food Lion, Family Dollar, Rainbow and Citi Trends.
