VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA:  Gerald S. Divaris, chairman and CEO of Divaris Real Estate, Inc. (DRE), announced the signing of four leases for 33,770 square feet of retail space in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. All lease negotiations were handled out of DRE’s Virginia Beach office.

Michaels signed a lease for 21,370 square feet at Hampton Roads Crossing, located at 1015 University Blvd., in Suffolk, Va. The lease negotiations were handled on behalf of the landlord, HRC Retail LLC, by Levi Thomson and Eric Bucklew. Michaels is North America’s largest specialty retailer of arts, crafts, framing, home décor and seasonal products for hobbyists and DIY decorators.

Cingular Wireless leased 5,000 square feet at the Marketplace at Tech Center, located at 12080 Jefferson Ave., in Newport News, Va. The lease negotiations were handled on behalf of the landlord, Marketplace at Tech Center, LLC, by Erica Meekins Rorrer and Mary McGovern. Marketplace at Tech Center is the retail component of Tech Center at Oyster Point, a $250 million mixed-use development on 100 acres in the heart of Newport News. The center is 90 percent leased with only one 7,100-square-foot-space remaining and small shops ranging from 1,100-3,200 square feet.

Simply Fashions leased 5,000 square feet at 2720 N. Mall Drive, in Virginia Beach, Va. The lease negotiations were handled on behalf of the tenant by David Redmond. Simply Fashions offers affordable clothing options for the urban woman.

Plaza Azteca leased 2,400 square feet at the Divaris-leased and –managed Broad Creek Shopping Center, located on North Military Highway, in Norfolk, Va. The lease negotiations were handled on behalf of the landlord, Broad Creek Phase I, LLC, by  Melinda Pezzella and Dave Redmond.  Plaza Azteca opened its first location in 1994 and now has 23 locations in Virginia, and nine others in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.
