Divaris Appointed to Lease Retail in Richmond’s Libbie Mill – Midtown

HENRICO CO., VA., August 20, 2018 – Gumenick Properties recently appointed Brett McNamee, Harrison Hall and Peter Vick of the Richmond office of Divaris Real Estate, Inc. to exclusively lease the retail space in Libbie Mill – Midtown, an urban mixed-use development in Henrico County.

Libbie Mill-Midtown is an 80-acre mixed-use urban community that blends a variety of destinations unique to this convenient location. The community fills a real need for people to live, work, shop, and socialize in the Midtown area of Richmond. The project features Class A, street-level retail, including anchor, junior anchor, and freestanding opportunities and restaurants, office, and civic space. Gumenick anticipates Libbie Mill – Midtown will include up to one million square feet of commercial office and retail space at the completion of the buildout of the development. The site is bound by Libbie Avenue, Staples Mill Road and Bethlehem Road, with immediate access to I-64 and West Broad Street.

“Divaris is one of the leading retail leasing firms in Richmond,” states Skip Nash, Gumenick vice president of property management. “They have longstanding contacts with both local and national retail brokers and retailers, and they have a proven track record of working with retailers that are well-suited for urban mixed-use communities similar to Libbie Mill – Midtown.  Divaris is a great fit for this assignment, and we are excited to be working with them.”

As the largest revitalization project in Henrico’s 400-year history, Libbie Mill-Midtown is unique as both a growing local residential and office community, and a regional destination for retail and restaurants. Midtown is convenient to downtown Richmond, western Henrico and major roadways, including I-64 and I-95. A walkable, pedestrian-friendly community, the project is approved for up to 994 homes for sale and 1,096 apartments.

Libbie Mill-Midtown masterfully connects commercial space and homes with a library, a beautiful lake, trails, and plazas – all in a parklike setting.  Central parking promotes walkability and a dynamic, inviting street life. Richmond’s Midtown has a vibrant daytime population and strong evening activity from high office and residential density and nearby cultural amenities.

The Midtown market has approximately 8.6 million square feet of office space and over 30,205 residential units. Large employers in Midtown include Anthem, Southern States, Genworth, Altria Group, Markel, Estes Express Lines, Bon Secours and Virginia Commonwealth University.  Cultural attractions in the Midtown district include Virginia Museum of Fine Art, Children’s Museum of Richmond, Science Museum of Virginia, Scotts Addition breweries, and many others.

Growth is accelerating at Libbie Mill – Midtown. Continued strong sales of new townhomes and condominiums, pre-leasing apartments at Penstock Quarter, a 327-unit mixed-use apartment building scheduled to have its first residents in November 2018, and the marketing of Harp’s Landing, a six-story office building planned to be built next to the Henrico County Libbie Mill Library and overlooking Libbie Lake are all demonstrations of this tremendous growth.
